DocumentsOnline (◊◊◊www.documentsonline.pro.gov.uk ) allows you online access to the Public Record Office's collection of digitised public records. Searching the index is free, and it costs £3 to download a digital image. All PCC wills spanning the period 1384-1858 are now available.

Vital Statistics

FreeBMD at ◊◊◊freebmd.rootsweb.com is a project to transcribe the Civil Registration index of Births, Marriages, and Deaths for England and Wales. The project is to transcribe the index only, not the records themselves. All that is recorded in the database is the name, date, event type (birth, marriage, or death), and the volume and page of the paper index. The idea is to find a name in the index and for a fee you can order the paper certificate from the GRO General Register Office.

The aim of GENUKI at ◊◊◊www.genuki.org.uk is to serve as a reference library of UK & Ireland genealogical information. It is organised by geographical localities, even down to parish level. It is a noncommercial service, provided by volunteers in cooperation with the Federation of Family History Societies. GENUKI provides primary historical material, e.g. parish register and census transcripts, etc.
